The YUM Factor

I have learned lately about a few great new foods I thought I would tell y'all about.

Quaker Apple Cinnamon Rice Cakes:
If you have never tried these you are missing something yummy!  Smear a little peanut butter on one for a great pre-workout snack.  Add a few raisins and it's just about perfect!

Quaker Sweet Chili Mini Rice Cakes:
My friend Denise tried one and her eyes got big!  They reminder her of BBQ potato chips..something her diet definitely did not allow!  They are by far my favorite go-to snack when I am craving salty stuff.  You can get them at WalMart and 18 cakes are only like 120 calories.  So far everyone I have shared them with has loved 'em.

Jif Natural Peanut Butter:
Calorie, fat, etc. is the same as regular PB, so you still need to watch the portion, but read the ingredients and compare it to what you eat now.  It's a world of difference.  Not nearly as much unpronounceable ingredients at all!  It's still very creamy and is NOT the stuff you have to stir every time you open the jar.  Even Tim has switched and we both considered ourselves PB snobs.  I was a Peter Pan fan and he was hooked on Reese's.  Give it a try.

SoBe Water (Zero Calorie):
This is what I drink now in the morning instead of diet soda.  It has great taste and counts towards the required water of the day.  My favorite is Fuji Apple Pear.  This is also at Wal Mart for $1 a bottle.

Zucchini:
Who Knew??  This is fast becoming one of my favorite veggies.  Saute it with a little EVOO and garlic, or eat raw as a mid-afternoon snack.  It's a little sweet and super tasty.  I cooked some and added it to pasta instead of meat for a great vegetarian meal once.  Uber-yummy!

Smoothies:
1/2 cup of fat free yogurt, 1/2 cup low fat milk, a handful of frozen strawberries, 2 frozen bananas.  Blend together in a blender.  With the frozen fruit you don't have to add ice.  I use agave nectar (thanks Mel!) to sweeten to taste.  Then blend in about 1/2 cup uncooked oats.  What a great treat!  Trust me, you don't even know the oats are there!  Drink 1/2 right away and refrigerate the other half and have for breakfast the next morning.

and finally...
Sweet 16 Bars:
I have only seen these at BiLo.  They are ice cream/popsicle bars in orange cream, raspberry and grape.  Each bar is a swirl of ice cream and flavored "ice".  Each bar is only 16 calories!!  And I am here to tell you they are really good.  Always take care of the ice cream craving for me.

I hope you'll try and enjoy some of these staples of my new diet.  Good Eats!!
